Re-enactment of Edouard Manet's painting "Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe" references the pastoral landscape painted by William Merritt Chase one hundred years ago when he lived nearby. (Also known as) “Luncheon on the grass” is “testimony to Manet's refusal to conform to convention and his initiation of a new freedom from traditional subjects and modes of representation - can perhaps be considered as the departure point for Modern Art.”
